Forest Bathing
Reconnect with Yourself
A Self-Care Practice to Calm the Nervous System & Find Relaxation
Forest Bathing refers to the ancient Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, although many cultures throughout time have used nature to promote Well-Being. Forest Bathing is the practice of using all our senses to breathe in the sights, smells, and sounds of nature to promote physiological and psychological health.
A MONTHLY PRACTICE
"There have been studies comparing walking in nature with walking in an urban environment and testing people on their mood, different aspects of depression, and in some cases, brain scans. In the natural setting, people are more relaxed and less stressed," Positive Psychology Research Fellow, David Yaden.
This 2-hour practice will vary each month but will include numerous activities. We call them invitations, where we will use not only our 5 physical senses, but also imagery and intuition to consciously connect with our natural surroundings.
“Keep close to Nature’s heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods.
Wash your spirit clean.”
John Muir
